I Missed the April 15 Deadline — Now What?
Options for late filers: mail-in your form now, or wait for the online portal in July.
If you missed filing Form 4547 with your tax return by April 15, don't panic. You still have options to open your child's Section 530A account.
Option 1: Mail It Now
You can file Form 4547 by mail at any time. Download the form from IRS.gov, fill it out, and mail it to:
Internal Revenue Service
Section 530A Elections
P.O. Box 530A
Kansas City, MO 64999-0530
Processing takes 6-8 weeks for mailed forms.
Option 2: Wait for the Online Portal
The IRS is launching a dedicated online portal for Form 4547 in July 2026. This will allow you to file electronically without having to mail anything. We'll send you a notification when it's live if you sign up for updates.
Which Should I Choose?
If your child is already born: mail it now. Every month of delay costs your child potential investment growth.
If your child isn't born yet or is due soon: waiting for the portal is fine.
Can I Still Get the Full $1,000?
Yes! The $1,000 government deposit is not affected by when you file. The only thing you lose by waiting is potential investment growth time.
Ready to get started?
Check your child's eligibility for a $1,000 Trump Account.
